VOICES is a yearly anthology produced by Cold River Press. Launched in 2013 as Sacramento Voices, an anthology that featured only Sacramento regional writers, it soon grew to encompass an international community of writers, changing its name to VOICES in 2020.
 

VOICES 2025

VOICES 2025 is open for submissions. Send in your poetry, prose, essay,
short fiction, flash fiction, photographs, artwork, and collage for our next
issue of collective Zeitgeist and Creativity.

This year's theme, MYSTICISM, PROPHECIES & MARIGOLDS is sure to
inspire a unique take on how we view our world, our times, and our place in
history; nationally, worldly, and cosmic, not forgetting, of course, our place
in the afterlife found in the myths, and religions, throughout time.

Marigolds have long been known as the "herb of the sun" and are believed to
have spiritual significance in providing protection against negative energies.
Symbolizing purity, divinity, and the connection between life and death,
they are often used in death rituals in many cultures throughout the world.

There is no length restrictions on submissions, but then again, it is an
anthology, so try to keep it succinct. Also, don't forget to enclose a
short bio (around 275 words or less) and if your submission was
previously published elsewhere let us know where it was FIRST published.
If sending poetry send 4-6 poems. If sending short stories or fiction send 2-3.
If sending artwork send 2-3 pieces for consideration. ALL artwork might
be used to illustrate poems, stories, and essays.

Send word submissions as attachments, either .doc or .pdf files. For all artwork
send as 300dpi .tif, .eps, or .pdf attachments. Submissions sent solely in the
body of the email will be summarily rejected.

Size of the publication is 8.5" x 8.5"

Deadline is April 10th, 2025. Publication is Summer 2025.
